Have a different experience living with a local family and learn about a different culture than yours.
Live 2 or 3 minutes from the school!
The students have the opportunity to live with carefully selected and vetted local families. While living with these families, students are able to experience the richness of our local culture, enjoy local cuisine, and practice their newly improved Spanish skills with native Spanish speakers throughout the day. The homestay package includes seven days accommodation, three meals per day (except Sundays). San Pedro also offers a wide range of affordable guest houses and hotels for those who choose not to live with a family.
Our Accommodation: In order for you to feel comfortable and relaxed during your stay, we consider it essential that you are satisfied with your accommodation.
We carefully select our host families and make sure our students feel like part of the family.
Host Families
Living with a local family is the best way to experience the indigenous lifestyle, learn about the customs, and practice the language.
Students stay in a private room and have breakfast, lunch and dinner from Monday to Saturday (on Sunday you can have your meals in some restaurant in the town).
To study a new language fully integrates the immersion approach to learning. It is for this reason that all language schools in Guatemala, including our Cooperativa Spanish School, strongly encourage students to stay in the home of a local Spanish-speaking family, where it is necessary for you to use the new language skills you acquire in school. We have host families who have been working with us for a long time, for this reason you will be fine even if you do not speak a lot of Spanish because they already know how to help you to communicate.
