The rainy season of 2010 and tropical storm
Agatha were tough on Lake Atitlan, but things are back to normal now. The
school's immersion spanish homestay families are awaiting new arrivals and
your travel dollars will really help the town. The town of San Pedro La
Laguna looks foreward to welcoming you in your quest to learn Spanish in
Guatemala! Easter is right around the corner and now is the time to register
for your Spanish classes here at Lake Atitlan. The
travel
blog Mayan Trip has some great photos of Easter in San Pedro La Laguna
from years past.

Welcome to the
Cooperativa Spanish
School
The
Cooperativa Spanish School invites and welcomes students from all over the
world to our school in lovely San Pedro La Laguna, Guatemala. This community
oriented cooperative offers immersion Spanish courses and programs of study
to students at all levels; beginner, intermediate and advanced.
We
offer private, one-on-one, instruction in a gorgeous setting overlooking one
of the world's most lovely bodies of water, Lake Atitlán. San Pedro is
surrounded by lush mountains and three famous dormant volcanoes.
Courses range from one week to one month or
longer. Instruction ranges
from
3 to 6 hours each day, 5 days a week. In addition to learning Spanish from
the most experienced teachers in San Pedro, students have the opportunity to
live in the home of a local family. Many students discover the richness of
living within the culture, speaking Spanish in an immersion setting, and
practicing their skills with members of their new family as the most
satisfying way of developing their Spanish.
The Home Stay package includes seven days
accommodation, three meals per day, except Sunday, and five days of classes.
Home stays are recommended, but not required. San Pedro offers a range of
accommodations from houses for rent to hotels and hostels all at some of
Guatemala’s
most
reasonable rates. We are able to meet any requirements you may have.
Let us know what you need and we are happy to help with the arrangements.
There are many opportunities to participate in various workshops, seminars and community outreach programs which are included with your course fee. A percentage of our competitive tuition fees go directly to help local families and a primary school for impoverished young children.
